Fifty two golfers enjoyed fantastic weather and a well presented course at this year’s Astride the Divide at Middlemount on Sunday.
Congratulations to the formidable “Briese team plus one” consisting of Mal, Marree, Charlotte and Peter Ledger.
Runners-up on the day wee Keith Mayne, Gary Mayne, Don Offord and Shane Bower.
A big thank you to the four teams who travelled from Central West to participate in the biannual event and those who travelled within Central Highlands.
The sixteen central West players represented clubs from Tambo, Alpha, Ilfracombe, Longreach and Barcaldine.
Central West President Duncan Emmett thanked Central Highlands for hosting the event and particularly Middlemount Golf Club for their outstanding hospitality.
“There was lots of interest from players keen to try the sand greens at Ilfracombe later this year. We hope we can reciprocate the hospitality in September when the return challenge match is played,” he said.
Central Highlands President Kevin O’Keeffe thanked all those that travelled to both the Middlemount Open and Astride the Divide events.
“It was a great weekend of golf. Special thanks to Middlemount Golf Club for their hospitality and Middlemount Men’s Captain Scott Hampton for all his efforts in making the two days flow smoothly.”
“There was a great deal of laughter and fond memories forged between the neighbouring districts.”
Congratulations to Maree Briese who scored a hole in one on the 12th. Ironically Marree had had a hole in one just one week earlier during a practice hit but no one was around to see her do it!
